J. David Forbes, M.D., ABIHM, is the Academic Co-Director of the Integrative Health and Healing Program at The Graduate Institute in Connecticut, Founder and Director of Nashville Integrated Medicine, Chief Medical Officer for Corporate Health Partners, a company delivering innovative wellness programs to businesses. He was President of the American Holistic Medical Association (AHMA) from 2009 – 2011.
Trained in the PEER® process (Primary Emotional Energy Recovery), a body-based approach for the healing of emotional wounds, depression, anxiety and addictive behavior, Dr. Forbes focuses much of his practice on experiential emotional stress healing. Over two decades he cultivated a meditation-based spiritual practice that involves working with the energy of the body, developing intuitive skills, and allowing internal spiritual energy to guide the healing process. He is a frequent writer, speaker, educator and retreat leader on many aspects of holistic/integrative medicine and emotional body-based healing.
Dr. Forbes received his M.D. from the University of Tennessee at Memphis and completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at North Carolina Baptist Hospital/Bowman Gray School of Medicine (Wake Forest) in Winston-Salem, NC in 1993. Dr. Forbes was board-certified in Internal Medicine in 1994, has over ten years full-time experience in Emergency Medicine, and became a board-certified Founding Diplomate of the American Board of Integrative/Holistic Medicine (ABIHM) in the year 2000.

Beyond Newton and Darwin: Scientific Evidence of Our Spiritual Nature
What does the cutting-edge of science have to say about the nature of reality? How does it provide us with insights and foundational thinking for concepts and experiences of spirituality?
During the 20th century, a scientific revolution took place – mostly under the radar: The Quantum Revolution. As its stunning implications for the nature of life tore through the cutting-edge world of physics, it barely registered in other realms of scientific inquiry, and not-at-all on the radar of daily life. A core question remained throughout most of the 1900’s: Does the astounding “weirdness” of what is happening at a sub-atomic level truly translate into the macro-molecular “3-D” world in which humans dwell? If it does, how much? In what ways?
The last two decades have finally brought a cascade of scientific experiments and research answering that question with a resounding YES. How we view the cosmos changes everything. In this lecture and discussion we will examine these exciting findings in the world of quantum physics and non-local connections that show us how and why the world isn’t really what we think it is!

Einstein, Deep Safety & the New Brain Science – A Series
The following two events comprise an Inside Track series that will take place in two separate 90-minute sessions on separate days. Tuition supplement is $30 per session or $50 for the series. Session 1 is required to attend Session 2. CEUs are available if both parts are attended.
The New Brain Science; Practical Applications for Personal, Professional and Planetary Evolution
Human beings are wired for connection. Our brains actually grow and are shaped by the loving connections and deep safety that we experience and encounter in life. Furthermore, the latest neuroscientific data and clinical therapeutic paradigms are both demonstrating that our paths to each other, our paths to our world, and our inner paths to healing are paved and engaged through our emotional system far more importantly and profoundly than through the cognitive.
When it comes to truly transformative and deep healing, how we feel and how we engage that feeling-self has the deepest and most sustainable life impact. Join us as we explore what the newest neuroscience is showing us about how flexible and fantastic our brains are, and how the roots of our finest development lies in our deep, loving connection with ourselves, our fellow beings, and the universe around us.
Einstein’s Greatest Question: “Is the Universe a Friendly Place?”
A reporter once asked Albert Einstein, “What is the greatest question facing humanity?” The unusual and unexpected answer he gave was, “The most important question facing humanity is, ‘Is the universe a friendly place?’”
Einstein went on to expound on how our personal answer to this question changes everything that follows. If we regard the universe as malignant, or even neutral, we will structure our world in such a way that we are constantly perceiving and defending ourselves from danger. If we feel and believe that the Universe is benevolent and loving, we will work in accordance with that support. Our thoughts, words, behaviors – and therefore our lives – then proceed in a completely different direction.
Einstein knew that whether or not we feel safe is the core, most important thing in life. In this time of accelerating and conscious evolution, our most essential work is to become aware of our own automatic answer to this question and begin to change it. Our body’s answer is often quite different than what our head’s intellectual answer might be. Further, the body always wins. It’s answer is what truly directs our lives. This then dovetails into the clinical and healing aspects of real safety.
In this workshop, we will explore the question a step further: that this is not simply the question we should be asking, it is the question our bodies are always asking in every moment of every day. Our body’s answer to that question determines the next thing we say, the next action we take and how everything else proceeds.
